Interior Architecture & Design

“My goal is not only to help you organise and design your space – but to understand the direct relationship between your mental state and the place you live in.”

Whether it’s a commercial business, a single room or an entire house, we will examine your practical needs and make suggestions on how you can optimise your space sustainably and efficiently. Holding the belief that the best interior design is comfortable and timeless, Micaela will create a tailored plan inspired by your taste and needs. Recommendations for soft furnishings, lighting and furniture will be presented in a series of hand sketches and 3D renders as part of the concept. Once this is confirmed, official documentation can proceed for floor and wall finishes, acoustics, electrical, plumbing, and light fixtures.

1

Concept & Scoping:

  • Taking the brief from the client, review the function of the space, budget, and deadlines
  • Take measurements of the space
  • Create Mood Board and Design Proposal

2

Construction Drawings:

  • Confirm concept design
  • Begin detailed documentation to get final quotes from suppliers per items
  • Recommendations on the structure and finishes of the space along with any plumbing, lighting, electrical, acoustic, or heating installation
  • Make adjustments to the design to fit initial budget

3

Project Management:

  • Select and engage suppliers
  • Ensure delivery of the project in a timely manner
  • Lead project to completion

* As always, these choices will be made in close consideration with your budget, timeframe and building limitations.
* If you wish, the above services can be contracted separately.

Tidy UP & Styling

“To me, tidying up is a kind of meditation – an invitation to be fully present in your life.”

We will help you divide the tidying up process into achievable stages, turning what seems like an overwhelming task into one that is achievable and enjoyable.

We will guide you through four sessions of two hours each, methodically working through the following:

Garments

Books and documents

Miscellaneous belongings

Sentimental items

Sustainability

“I help my clients understand how their lifestyle affects the environment and how to live more sustainably.”

Sustainability is at the core of Micaela’s personal and business ethos. From the conception of any project, she will carefully consider materials and construction techniques to optimise energy consumption and reduce waste.

Who can benefit?

Too busy at work or don’t have the time to organise your space?
At The LionCrest we understands that we’d all prefer to spend quality time at home, rather than spending time frustrated with our spaces. Once the initial tidy up is complete, you will be armed with a clear mind and the skills to keep your space organised with little effort and stress. This in return will positively impact your mental state, productivity and relationships with your family members.

Expecting a baby?
Preparing your house for a new addition can be stressful, especially when you want everything to be perfect. Creating a warm, healthy and inviting space with purposeful and practical furnishings is important for a child’s development.

Entering a new chapter in life?
If your kids have flown the nest or you’re moving on from a partner, Micaela recognises that creating a new living space and refreshing old habits can alleviate this emotionally turbulent time.

Messy kids?
Micaela believes that taking responsibility for one’s belongings begins at a young age. So, she’s developing a fun and engaging workshop to teach kids to be conscious of our individual footprint in addition to the importance of looking after our spaces and things.

FAQ

How does the tidying up process take?
That depends on you! If you have the time to complete the four 2-hour sessions in a week then we can complete the process in one week. If you only have the weekends, we can complete it in four weeks. However, it is important that this process is completed as quickly as possible to facilitate a positive reset in your mental state.

I would like to declutter my home but I am afraid of the process
Our goal is to eliminate the stress of re-organising your belongings and for you to take back control of your living space so that it can be used to its full potential. As you discard things, you will master the process of ‘letting go’, which is an important skill that can be transferred to every other aspect of your life. From here, your mind can reset and you can move on with a new chapter.

Does decluttering mean throwing everything away?
Not necessarily, we aim to help you recognise what you need and what you don’t. We all have emotional connections to our belongings and we understand the difficulties one may have in letting go. But once we can achieve that, we can create an open space that positively influences your everyday life.

Why should I declutter?
When you keep an item that is attached to the past or you become afraid that you may need it in the future, you are holding on to negative energy that affects the space you live in as well as your own. When you discard these items, you will feel lighter and more present. And in giving these items away, we transform what it was a negative feeling into an opportunity to spark joy to someone else!

Can my kids learn to fold their clothes?
Yes, of course! I recommend starting to teach kids at age 4.

What is conscious shopping?
Conscious shopping is about making mindful choices about the things that we buy and how they have an impact on the environment. For me, it is not about how much you can afford, it is about how much the Earth can afford. So, by being aware of your day-to-day routine of consumption, we can work together to help create a sustainable world.

What is the difference between Interior Decorator, Interior Designer and Interior Architect?
An Interior Decorator follows styles and trends or can create their own style, to decorate a space from chosen furnishings from suppliers.
An Interior Designer has studied fine art and can create a design concept without attaching themselves to any style, trend or fashion. They can design their own furniture, fixtures and finishes to create a desired look and function for interior spaces.
An Interior Architect balances the art and science of interior space to build a space. They incorporate the technical aspects of a space to create plans for plumbing, electrical, acoustics, heating and lighting.

What if I am not happy with the final result?
I aim to be approachable and create clear communication with my clients at all times. I send my clients a summary after every meeting, along with the next steps. I value clarity and transparency in my work so there are no surprises at the end!
